  • fall away (not finished and feedback is greatly appreciated)

She said, “All I wanted was your trust
But it was just too much to ask”
“I can only be my broken self
I'm sorry if that's not enough”
    “Oh you're everything I want
But not the way you are
If only a wish could be a horse
I'd ride this one so far”

    He said “I don't trust a soul
It's not a thing you can control”
“I was never good at letting go
Because I hate to live with the unknown”
    “Life isn't a fairy tale
And no kiss can  make this frog a prince
There's no such thing as happy ever after”

  • religion and the wizard of oz

    RELIGION:

    one man
    just a man
    behind a curtain
    using his hands
to create an illusion of grandeur
    he's a glorified puppeteer

    he rules
    creates rules
    from an emerald tower
    deceiving fools
    because anonymity gives him power
over the witches and the munchkins

  • georgia on my mind

father what was this land like
before it was overrun with bulldozers, and shovels, and millions of feet?

    why son, she was pure
her skin was the richest soil
and her eyes were the clearest sky
her hair was fine like stalks of grain
and her fragrance was a field of flowers

her hips rolled like the hills
    and swayed like the trees
and under the full moon she bayed like a wolf
    and bucked like a mare

her passion was a roaring river
and her love was still pools

    our courting was in fall
winter saw her as my bride
    spring was a honeymoon
and in summer she grew ripe as fruit on a vine

her children were the owls and trout
    the foxes and hares
    the wolves and deer

then her children were ripped from her bosom
and she was stripped of all her glory
but i remember her the way she was
    before she was adulterated

  • wedding cake

    she had waited eighteen years
and she was tired of waiting
so she took a tiny bit of frosting off the top
and it was so delicious that she couldn't stop

    just one more bite
    turned into two. three. four.
    maybe more
    and slowly the pieces disappeared

after all, it was very tasty cake

when the day came to celebrate
she was caught with cake on her face
and a pile of crumbs on a plate
    and nothing more.
  • stride straight

    i'll stride straight
    until i reach
    New Jersey
or at least until the Hudson
    the HUDSON
    oh, the river Hudson

and when i reach the Hudson
    i'll either sink or swim

if i'm lucky i'll reach the other shore
    ...or...
HE could politely part the waters
    and i'll just walk across

    maybe i'll keep marching on
    until i reach the Wash-ing-ton

but all the same i could just jump
    and
        sink
           like
              a
                   lead
                         weight
                              down

    and they'll never find me
    and it'll be
    finally!
    quite quiet
